Turn VGA output off

By bear91 ·
I added a Video card to my dell studio and I am currently using both outputs on the card. I want to turn the default vga output that came with the computer off. How do I do that?

That's usually done through a setting in the BIOS

go to the BIOS during boot up and look for a video setting on the first or second page of the BIOS settings - it's often a choice of AGP / PCI / On-Board or something similar

If this is a On Board Video

You need to open the BIOS typical on Dell's that means Pressing the F2 Key while the Dell Logo is on the screen.

Enter the BIOS disable the On Board Video as per the directions above and also look for the section about Shared Memory and set this to Zero so that your computer can access all of it's System Memory and is not reserving some of it for Video Generation.

It is also possible that the simple fact of plugging in a Video Card turns off the On Board Video this all depends on the M'Board that you have.
