Twain Driver issues

I tried to update the driver on my Canon N670U. As far as I can gather, everything is in place, except when I come to select the twain driver.
I get the correct window, select the only driver on the list, and then click ok. Then I get an error box saying

‘Run dll as an App has encountered a problem and needs to close.’

If I was doing anything the information may be lost. Yes, I was doing something – selecting the twain. Yes, it was lost. It will not let me select the twain driver without bringing up this dll message.
