Two Active Directory Domains on one physical network

by moseley.ja . Updated 18 years, 11 months ago

Ok here is the Problem. I am in the process of helping someone rebuild their domain from the ground up. This involves migrating users to the new domain as well as their files. We are running out of time and would like to find a solution that would allow for both domains to be up at the same time. I need to know how to set up the AD domain/DNS on the existing domain(Domain A) to allow computers to join and use the new domain(Domain B). Domain A does DHCP, and DNS forwarding for the entire network right now. I have a fowarder on Domain B to point to Domain A’s DNS server to see out to the internet(router is set up so only one IP can see out for DNS, this is an issue to be resolved shortly). I also have a forwarder on Domain A’s DNS to Domain B’s DNS, so I can see computers and servers belonging to Domain B. What kind of Trust do I need to set up for this to work. And does anything have to be done to the router? Time schedule for this is the end of the week so any help would be appreciated.
