I just acquired a Tyan S1692 MB with a case and full tower. The MB is dual capable and only has 1 PII in it right now. Before I got the board it had been used with a SCSI HD. The SCSI had been removed and kept by the previous owner. I want to use an IDE HD but I’m having difficulty getting the MB to recognize the HD. When I boot up I can hear the HD spin up and check itself but when I got to load Win98SE, I’m told that a HD cannot be detected. I’ve tried both IDE channels and have tried the HD in both master and slave setting but with no luck. Anyone familiar with this particular Tyan board and what can I do to get the HD recognized. Any help is as always very much appreciated.
