Typewriter clicking noise in XP

By windinthew ·
In Explorer, IE and Email I get a clicking sound when using the arrow keys (either the main keys or numpad keys). I have gone through all the WAV files and deleted two WAVs called Click which were in Norton Anti Virus but still get this annoying noise like an old typewriter. I cannot find any registry tweak to turn it off. Do you get this clicking sound in XP?

i have gotten this clicking noise in various os's when there is interrrupt conflict with keyboard. most commonly when i have inadvertently connected the keyboard to the computer's mouse port and the mouse to the keyboard port. can you examine device manager for yellow bangs? have you disconnected keyboard lately?

Start Control Panel, then select the Sounds and Audio Devices applet. Click the Sounds tab at the top (2nd from left). Scroll down through the Program Events window to see if this sound has been assigned by some program or even by a Theme you may have selected yourself. You can check all your system sounds and change them from here.
