At present I am working this scanner Astra 2000p in 98se without any problem though the scan image having yellow and green color. Can anyone help me in setting up so it can work in XP.

Parallel scanners and Win Xp do not get along very well. If you go to umax web site http://www.umax.com/download/index.jsp you can enter model and OS. It appears that V3.55p is the correct version on there site ($14.95) but I would venture to guess that it will not work. I had the same problem with an all in one from HP and ended up buying a new scanner.
Thanks for your reply I actually do not intend to go for a new scanner as I am not using frequently. That is why I am trying to installed the update for this scanner to work in XP, as I found some have succeeded in making it work.
Further to state that I finally got the update file to work but when it start to proccess the file ( in Found New Hardware Wizard )a message saying "Cannot installed this hardware an error occurred during the installing of the device. The class installer has denied the the request to install or upgrade this device". Now what does this message mean ? Hoping to hear from you all. Thanks.
With most of the Umax Scanners you have to buy the updated driver for the XP version they are not freely available for download.
While I've never bothered to do this with a Parallel scanner I can tell you for certain that the SCSI ones work quite well. Instead of wasting your time why don't you setup a Dual Boot option where you have 98 on one Boot and XP on the other so that way when you want to use the scanner you can boot into 98 and then use XP for your general work.
If you do that remember to install 98 First as it must be on the primary partition.
