Unable to Access Modem

By sandollar ·
I am currently running Mandrake Linux 9.1. I have a 56K Performance Pro Modem by US Robotics, which is controller-based. The modem is recognized in the hardware section of Mandrake Control Center. However, when query the modem using the PKKK program, I get the message, "Unable to Open Modem." Please help me correct this problem.

You may have this already but here is an RPM from US Robotics for this modem.

The problem may be with your IRQ configuration or your modem could simply be damaged. In my experience, US Robotics modems are of poor quality. If you have another OS installed on your PC like Windows, boot it and see if the modem functions properly.
