I want to set my System Restore (SR) to an earlier time. After a virus infection my SR seems to have been disabled. I have tried accessing using a) safe mode, b) safe mode with command prompt (%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe), and also through recommended route (ie control panel >system >etc)- System Restore Wizard active either – each time I get the message “System Restore is unable to protect your computer. Please restart computer and then run System Restore again.” Having spent 2 days all suggestions found on your site have been ineffective. I phoned Microsoft Helpdesk who referred me to Dell who offered to help but at a cost! Registry is still showing SR. Any more suggestions before I go down this expensive route?
