Unable to Assign Tasks in Outlook

By bbaerwalde ·
When users try to send an assignment for tasks, the recipient gets only a text email. They cannot accept or decline it since it isn't sent as a task.

Unable to Assign Tasks in Outlook

Check to see if you have the Outlook clients configured as Internet only clients, or Corporate/Workgroup clients. In order for the Outlook clients to utilize all the functions of Exchange Server, such as Public Folders and Task Lists, the Outlook client software needs to be set up on the client PC as a Corporate/Workgroup client. As an Internet mail-only client, assigning tasks will just send a plain-text or HTML e-mail message to the recipient, and not put a task on the recipient's Task List.

You may want to check the user's calendar for recurring appointments. I'm not sure what the bug is but I've had a couple of situations like this one and it led back to a recurring appointment that the user thought they had deleted. Stop the recurring appointments and then check to see if you can assign a task...it's a long shot but it may work.
