Unable to browse the network remotely

    Locked

    by afamm ·

My Remote users can login to the network but cannot browse the network. I have check the DHCP Scope options and the wins server (ie), WIns/nbns is configured. Also i have the Wins,Ras,and DHCP Server on the same Computer. I believe this has to do with name resolution. I can only ping the ras server on the network when i am loged on remotely. The users in the office are fine with the name resolution.
So What am i doing wrong or need to do.
    Any Clue guys????.

I Suggest checking going to the Control Panel, Network Icon, Services, RAS, Properties. Try the Network button (not certain) What you are looking for is a setting on the protocols that says ‘This computer only’ swap to the ‘Entire Network’

Agree with first answer! Also, make sure that the remote computers have the proper workgroup (the same as in the office) under properties of network Neighborhood (right-click on the icon at the desktop and select properties, identification).

      Good luck!

      Hi!,
See if you are in the workgroup…then check for the RAS services..
      This probably should help..

I had a similar problem. I could log on to the domain, i could ping the servers but i could not browse the network. The solution was simple. Before you dail in, start winipcfg and relaease all ip adresses. Then dail in to your network. When you do this your modem is the only device with a valid ip adres so it becomes your ‘default gateway’
