I’ve been having a problem with an NT 4.0 server.
Fresh install of NT4 on a newly formatted SCSI HD (2048MB). NT completes the first stage of the installation just fine. When it reboots and starts the NTFS conversion, it get’s an error and skips the conversion. I’ve run CHKDSK at startup and it continually reports corrupted directories or get’s ‘out of memory’ errors during the process. No corrections are made.
There’s nothing wrong with the disk, I’ve even low-level formatted and verified it – no errors.
I have a friend who has seen this in past also, but never figured it out. Anyone else seen this? Anyone have any suggestions?
