Unable to find computer using IP address

I can ping a server by NAME or IP address. However when I go to find the server using START-FIND-COMPUTER and I put in the IP address, the server is not found. I need this to work since I am unable to find the server over VPN or in any of the remote offices. The server shows up here in my local office but not in the remote offices when I browse Network Neighborhood Domain. Any ideas? Used NBTSTAT to clear the name on the server. Should I delete the name entry in the DNS or the WINS?
