unable to get graphics in Firefox on a machine running ubunto.

By faisal_ned ·
I have a laptop that has ubunto Linux running on it. The laptop is connected to an Actiontech DSL router via Ethernet port. All the applications run fine (ping with various packet sizes upto 1464 bytes, ftp-ing larger file etc). But when I launch firefox it would only download text. The graphics would not load up. An interesting thing is that when I connect another laptop that is running XP to the same port on Actiontech, everything works fine including firefox. I was thinking of upgrading the firmware on the Actiontech to resolve the issue. Any suggestions?

All the graphics?

Or just Flash? I also use firefox in Linux, and the only "missing" part of any web page is Flash content, which I honestly don't miss one bit. But, I believe it is possible to install the plug-in, if you want. If all graphics, meaning static image files (.jpg, for example) are not loading, you do have a more general problem. Want to provide more information?

All the Graphics

It seems like none of the graphics can make it. Only the text can be downloaded when I use firefox. Also I installed "lynx" (the text based browser), and that seemed to work just fine.

Weird.

I haven't used "ubunto" myself, and have no experience with firefox ever having problems in the Linuces I have used. If you care, you can try re-installing firefox, or just stick with lynx. Up to you.
