We have been having several strange problems
with our Microsoft Access 97 installs lately.
The first was that ActiveX was not enabled
correctly on two of the NT workstations, but
worked fine on a third, and on all 95
machines. I was able to uninstall everything
from MS office and reinstall in order to get
a correct version of comcat.dll enabled,
however it has left me with a problem that I
did not have before.
When I attempt to import a file into the
database, my only options areAccess, dBase
3, 4, 5, Foxpro, Foxpro 3.0, and ODBC
Databases. Prior to reinstalling all the
programs, I also had the various text file
types, in addition to Excel spreadsheets. I
have tried reinstalling the data access under
both Office andAccess, but both say that
Excel is a valid filetype that is already
installed.
Any ideas on what has happened and how to fix it?
