Unable to Insert Object in Outlook

By steven.green ·
When in a new message, and you want to choose to insert an Object (via Insert>Object), we get an error message that says "Can't open the object".

This is a Win95/98 environment with NT servers. We use Outlook 98 and Technet does not have anything concerning this message.

Any ideas??

Unable to Insert Object in Outlook

Under Tools, Options, Mail Format, change it to HTML, close Outlook, re-open it and try to insert the object again.
If you installed the recent patch to protect Outlook from Virus and Worms, read documentation about it, and just for testing, renamethe object your trying to insert with a new extension (e.g. setup.exe to setup.ex1) and try inserting the new name document.

Good luck!

Unable to Insert Object in Outlook

I think this may be on the right track, as we know it occurred around the time we installed the patch. The problme we have though is that we use the menu option Insert>Object to insert DocsOpen references. If we change it to HTML format, we no longer have an option to insert objects, just pictures, hyperlinks, items and files.

I had hope though...and so I will re-open this thread for any other ideas.
