We had a system crash that I was able to repair and eventually get logged back into Windows 2000. After the repair, however, some programs had messages stating they needed to be reinstalled.
When I tried reinstalling Office 2000 Pro, I got the following message:
“The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available.”
I inserted the CD and pointed the installation to the data1.msi file on the CD, but still no luck. It seems the previous network admin used a different source for installing Office than what I was left with, and I am unable to reinstall the software. The CD I have is the only media I have been able to locate. I am also not able to remove Office without the original media, I get the same message as above.
Does anyone know of a method of getting around this error, or possibly just removing Office from this system entirely so I can just go ahead and reinstall?
