Unable to join W2K Server Domain

I don't quite understand your last statement on your sentence. But I will try to help from beginning.

To logon to a domain server, go to the win2k pro, right click my computer, properties, under network identifications select properties. Then youwill have your computer logon to domain or workgroup. Just change that to domain and key in your domain name. Once you do that, it will authenticate you asking for a username and password. After keying in, there will be a welcome message. Just reboot and you will be able to logon to your domain.

Have you checked the IP Properties on the client. Your client will need to do a DNS lookup for a domain controller. Check that you have this correct.

Also check that when you are typing in the domain name you type in the full DNS domain name and not the NetBIOS name of the domain.

Right-click "My Computer" and choose Properties on the Domain controller for your Windows 2000 domain (any will do). Choose the "Network Identification" tab and note the domain. This is what you must enter in the domain box when you add the client to the domain.

You need to ensure that the DNS server that is servicing the Active Directory domain is added to the TCP/IP properties on the client.

To test that this is working properly ping the domain name at a command prompt and if you get a reply you should be fine.
