    Unable to load IE?

    Locked

    by randerson7 ·

Running W95 on P11 HP, when clicking on IE the IE box hangs. CTL+ALT+DEL says that “msupdatemanager” not responding or something like this). When you end task, IE will then load. Where can I fix this or disable the manager in ’95. This is happening on four machines near each other in lab. Coincidence?

Well it sounds like IE is trying to check for updates before launching.

Try running an IE repair bvia ADD/Remove programs, select Internet Explorer and click uninstall, it will open a window where you can select ‘repair’, ‘remove’, ‘reinstall’. I would personally remove and reinstall it but you can try a repair first anyway.

Other than that, click START>RUN and tye msconfig.

Click the ‘startup’ tab and make sure that nothing related to windows update manager is scheduled to run on load. It sounds like somethnig did not install completely or update properly.
