Hi
I have a rather strange problem opening Access 2003 Databases from our Windows 2003 Terminal Server. If you browse to the file from Explorer, ie \\server\share\test.mdb, we get the following error.
?windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item?
This happens only for mdb files. You can create an excel or word file in the same folder and it is fine. The share permissions are set to Everyone with Full Access and security permissions are domain users have full control.
Now the really weird thing is you can open Access 2003 on the server and go FILE ? OPEN, browse to the location of the file and it will open with no issues.
We have uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2003 twice on the server. Disjoined and Rejoined the server. All to no avail.
When the server was disjoined, a local share was created and a new database file created in that share. Again if you browse to the folder you can’t launch the file but you can via the application.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated?
Cheers
Greg
