firewall

the firewall is off on BOTH systems? It is the recieving pc that HAS to have the firewall off or have an exception for the other system.
You don’t need admin to ping.

Firewall is off on both the systems. I am not using admin to ping. That was just to provide you some more information that it is alos not allowing to login through admin. May be from this we can get some conclusion.

Ping

I got 2 questions
1. Can you ping the other way around?
2. I don’t understand the ADMIN log input – can you log to the machine as a user?
What happenes when you trying to log as an ADMIN?
I think this is a different problem as pinging a machine that is on the network is different then login to a machine that is on the network. Also on the machine that you cannot ping when you running “IPCONFIG /all” is it giving you the same data as the other machine (Of course the IP addresses will be different)

In reply to Ping
First of let me provide you the answer of your second question. I can login to teh machine through regular domain user account, however cannot throughg administrator.
Regarding your first question, I cannot ping other way arouind also, but this machine has the IP address and is able to access all the network resources and INternet.

Hub may be problem.
by svasily1 · about 16 years, 2 months ago
In reply to Unable to ping
Do you have chance to replace the hub on a switch? It should take care speed and duplex mismatch and crossover cable issue.
Other wise you have to match that setting manually. -

Routing issue?
by sep5th · about 16 years, 2 months ago
In reply to Hub may be problem.
This sounds more like a routing issue. May be both the machines are getting different subnet mask, so please check whether routes are configured appropriatly.
