Unable to read registry subkey values in

By ravi-d ·
Using visual C++ 6.0 wrote a small program
to read IE installation path from registry,
My development environment is on NT. This program worked fine on NT but when i tried on
windows 98 , was able to read registry till

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
software\\microsoft\\windows\\CurrentVersion

and it fails at when reading the subkey
"ProgramFilesDir" or any other subkey in registry.

Is there any OS dependency in Registry API.

I tried both MFC and SDK api's both failed.

I would appreciate any help in resolving this
problem.

TIA,

Best Reagrds,
ravi

Windows (even 9 Tolkenizes file/folder names exceeding 12 charactors (true names contain the ~tilde charactor) and those containing spaces. This is true even in NT 4.0 until you apply service pack ( 3 )? I believe (security update for lanman).
- so I would test this by creating a file folder stack with various dir (folder) names & sizes.

Happy Code
