System Specs:
Brand new HP P4 1.4GHz, 128 MB RAM, Office97/2000 Win 98.
When attempting to save documents in Word receive the error “Insufficient memory, would you like to save as rescued document 1.doc?” This occurs when saving any new documents created or when using the “Save As” function with an existing document.
There is a co-existing problem in Excel in that a majority of the menu options (File, Edit ..) are disabled. ie: excel spreadsheets cannot be opened from within excel, only by double clicking the existing file. Once opened, this file cannot be acted upon via the menus however you may modify the spreadsheet itself.
The original problem presented itself under Win98 using MS Office 97 (no updtates or SRs). The first thing done was critical updates followed by MS Office 97 SR1 and SR2b. When this did not work Office 97 was completely uninstalled and Office2000 installed. The issue remained however and the latest Office2000 SR was installed.
The files in question have all been tested on other machines and work without problems (the test files are in no way corrupt)
