Unable to Start Norton Antivirus for Exc

I am trying to start NAV for Exchange on my Exch server which is running 5.5 sp 4 on NT 4.0 sp 6a. The server is also running Veritas Backup Exec with exch module for backups. The service fails to start at reboot and reports the following events: Event ID 86 - can not start service due to inability to logon to mailboxes, Event ID 87 - service can not start due to problems starting the NAV engine, Event ID 85 - service could not start since the auto-protect process could not be started, Event ID185 - the service will be shut down due to unexpected failure initializing virus protection.

Symantec claims that this is an issue with corruption in the database, but we have seen not symptoms of database corruption. Any help that anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Assign the account used for Symantec user permissions to the Recipients object in the exchange administrator..this might help...this give that account user rights to all e-mail containers...
