Unexpected LSAss.exe shutdown

By tpgriff90 ·
I would appreciate assistance on this issue.
In a Complex AD Forest with 3 trees and 2 Sites I received this message on various DCs in all Domains, Trees and Sites: "System Shutting down was initiated by NT Authority \System. The system process '%systemroot%\system32\lsass.exe' was terminated unexpectedly wit a status code of 1073741819"
I find nothing on the Microsoft Knowledge Base or TechNet sites. My suspicion is a Global Catalog issue. There was no Event in the System Log of Event Viewerfor this on any of the DCs affected. Happened originally in new Site to two Second DCs for seperate Domains in seperate Trees (One was the second DC for Forest Root). After rebooting them happened to them again and to DCs of Parent domains in seperate trees. Child Domain DCs were not affected, nor the Forest Root originating DC. DNS was AD-Integrated and only on the original DC. All subsequent zones were working properly.

See this article in MS Knowledge Base. Appears to be a known issue resolved in Win2K SP3. Are all your DC's running SP3?
