unicows.dll with OpenOffice.org

by barryvg . Updated 21 years, 3 months ago

Loaded OpenOffice.org 1.1.2 to Windows 98 SE system. Application ran fine for a couple days and now required unicows.dll to run. Am unable to remove, reinstall, or even install a newer version. Possibly unicows.dll was removed during old applications removals. Found the fix and have attempted to install unicows.dll per instructions, but system is still indicating it needs the dll for running. What particular directory should the .dll be installed. Have put it into

c:\windows
c:\windows\system\
c:\windows\system32
c:\programs files\open office\etc
c:\windows temp
and any other possible folder that might make sense.

Is the a registration process to recognize the dll?

Appreciate any assistance.
