    Uninstal of Office 97

    Locked

    by ron hagge ·

In ugrading to Office 2000, there are a few applications that still need Access 97 to run. Therefore we must uninstall Office 97 except for Access 97. The Problem is the install of Office 97 was done from the network and since the original install, the source files were removed and replaced with the CD version instead of the Diskette version. If I try to run the uninstall, instead of prompting me to add or remove components, the install proceeds as if it were a fresh install, is there a way I can remove all of the office 97 components except for Access 97.

Yes. Knowing that Access was not compatible with the newer version, we can only expect to be able to keep some of the older programs.
To do that you need to select custom installation. On the windows to select which programs to update, make sure you keep your Access 97.
Then on where to install it, make sure that you give it a different path to install (e.g. c:\program files\O2K). do not install in the same folder (c:\program files\microsoft office).
It will install the newer programs, including the Access 2000, deleting the old programs, but keeping Access 97. You will have to create a short cut to your desktop from your older access, for the new access will replace that icon on your start programs file.

      Good Luck!
