Uninstall of IE???

By matte271 ·
Hey everyone,

Lately my computer is always getting viruses and worms. For a long time I was using Nortons and now McAfrees but I was reading up on cnet.com and found that if i stop using IE and start using Mozilla Firefox as my browser and Trend Micro PC-cillin as my antivirus and firewall that I will be less likely to be hit. My question would be is this a good idea and if so would it affect my Windows XP if I uninstalled Internet Explorer?

Thanks,
Matt

You may be better off just not using it as opposed to trying to uninstall it. Make Firefox your default browser and ignore IE.

A router/switch is a good hardware device to put between yourself and the internet. It will block a good deal of crud from ever seeing your PC.

No problem

If you want to migrate your settings from IE to Firefox, leave it installed.

After you install the Mozilla based browser, you can remove IE with the add/remove windows components list in the add/remove programs area. If this will cause any problems...I haven't heard of it.
