Uninstall Service Pack 2

By Kevin27 ·
Hello i have tried to uninstall Service pack 2 through the windows directory and through add and remove programs. I found no such folder in the windows directory called $ntservicepack$ even when view hidden files is enabled. And there is no site of it in add and remove programs even when show updates is selected. I have tried installing service pack 2 again to see if it would replace the uninstall files but had no luck. It is a problem i have never encounted and would much appreciate any advice thank you..

One obvious question...

Why are you attempting to uninstall the single most all-encompassingly important M$ upgrade?

Not compatible

by Kevin27 In reply to One obvious question...

Since it was installed on the laptop the network adapters have incured a code 39 error. Trust me i have tried everything to fix this problem and my last option is to try and remove service pack 2 and reinstall. And doesnt it seem odd that there is no $ntservicepack$ file in the windows directory nor a service pack removal icon in add and remove programs.

Error code 39? ...

by OldER Mycroft In reply to Not compatible

Windows error code 39 reads:

"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing."

How exactly did this lead you to believe that Service Pack 2 was to blame?

As for your above comment:

"doesnt it seem odd that there is no $ntservicepack$ file in the windows directory nor a service pack removal icon in add and remove programs." ...well, for that matter you may as well wonder why there is no removal icon for Windows XP!

Did you try to update the drivers for whatever generated the error code?

How can you be sure it was the network adapters?

What type of laptop do you have?

NOTE: Please do not post twice with the same question - your second post was only a few hours after your first!
