uninstall Symantec Corp edition from vista home premium

By gsmittles ·
I am trying to uninstall Symantec Anti Virus Corp Ed. from a Vista Home Premium system. I get this message when attempting to do this:

The Windows Installer Service could not be assessed.

This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed.

Contact your support personnel for assistance.

Any suggestions?

To un-install Symantec

I have put a link here for you so that when you select the site you will be asked of which product you have and then you will be able to download the "un-installer".

I was looking for the same thing earlier for Symantec, but had no luck. Have you actually used that on a Corp product?

How to uninstall Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition 7.5 and 7.6 server for Windows NT/2000/XP manually
Question/Issue:
How to uninstall Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition 7.5 and 7.6 server for Windows NT/2000/XP manually Uninstalling Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition 7.5 and 7.6 server for Windows NT/2000/XP manually How to remove Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition 7.5 and 7.6 server for Windows NT/2000/XP manually Removing Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition 7.5 and 7.6 server for Windows NT/2000/XP manually

Solution:
The easiest way to remove Norton AntiVirus server from a Windows NT/2000/XP computer is to run the uninstaller program from Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel. If you cannot remove the program this way, then it must be removed from these three places:
The registry
The Start menu
The hard drive

Stop the following services before removing items from the registry, Start menu, or the hard drive:
DefWatch
Intel Alert Handler
Intel Originator
Intel File Transfer
Intel PDS
Norton AntiVirus Server

Note: You must have administrator permissions (read and write) to edit the registry.

WARNING: In the next steps you will edit the Windows registry. Back up the registry before you make any changes to it, because incorrect changes to the registry can result in permanent data loss or corrupted files. Modify only the registry keys that are specified.
