Uninstall Win2K Advanced Server

By trktrax ·
I goofed and installed Win2K Advanced Server on my laptop. Win2K Pro and Office 2000 Pro were already installed. I know I should have partitioned the drive; however, I was trying to follow the directions in my MCSE training kit for Win2K Server. Now Win2K Server is my OS and recognizes my modem but will not let me dial out. I think if I uninstall the Server and then reinstall it properly, my problems will be over. Thanks for any help I can get. Darrel

Uninstall Win2K Advanced Server

I don't think that your modem problem is related to the server installation. It does recognize the modem, so it's either the modem being used by something, or just needs to be reinstalled. I would try and stay away from uninstalling 2k server, it would be a pain in the a$$!, since it's on the same partition as your 2k pro.

If you must uninstall 2k server, then you'll have to delete the system folders for 2k server. By default it's also WINNT, but you must had to rename it to something else because of the first WINNT folder from your 2k pro installation.

Also, you'd have to edit the boot.ini file and remove the entry for 2k server. I would also look at microsoft's website for additional tips regarding this procedure.

hope that helps you.
