Uninstalled video card..no video when Windows ME starts

By dawne.mulhollen ·
My son's computer is about 5 years old. Dell. It is only used for internet and some games. It came with an integrated video card and some of my son's games would not play so I installed a different graphics card but it ended up being worse than the integrated one. I removed the video card and now as soon as Windows is supposed to start up, my monitor goes to the orange light that it is not getting signal. What do I do from here?

No Video

Check to make sure that card is seated properly

Now check the connectors, see if you can boot the system to BIOS setup and then enable On Board video,if this doesn't work you have to install the driver from the restore disk

A couple of issues here

On that 5 year old Dell, it's probably due for a few things:

1) OS clean up. I'd just go ahead and reinstall XP if you haven't done so recently.

2) Make sure you have the right drivers. If you go to the Dell website it will have a list of drivers for you machine

3) Try booting in safe mode if you don't want to do all that. To do that, right after the BIOS load screen finishes, press F8. If you don't know what that means, after the text shows up on your screen and your computer beeps, press F8 like a mad man ;-)
