isn't it showing in the list in install/remove programs? Then I guess it was preinstalled, so you'd have to go to the web page of your computer. Generally there's some little programs to remove the preinstalled or eventuallya cd you have with the computer.

movie maker is inatalled as part of XP, It does not show up on either the add or remove programs or the add or remove windows components. The upgrade to it will however show up if you turn of the view updates. (providing you installed the patch from microsoft to MM)

However, it is a rare instance of a self contained program. ie all it's dll's are located in the program directory, not where they should be in system32 directory. This means you can safely delete the movie maker folder from the Programs folder and delete any shortcuts from your menu without causing any damage.

There are a couple of registry entries which could / should be deleted,

Just do a search in your registry on movie maker and delete any specific references.

I would comment though, movie maker actually only takes up 10Meg of space.. given the trouble of removing in manually from the registry, I would suggest leaving it... if you are so hard up for disk space that 10M will make a difference, I would suggest you need to consider looking for a bigger HD. (My last 160 Gig drive cost me under $100)

3- save it as mmrem.bat (or anything you like)
4- restart your computer in safe mode (Press F8 when the computer starts up)
5- run the batch file you just made ie mmrem.bat
