We have a number of devices in Active Directory that we cannot identify. They are showing up as computer objects in AD. The names appear to be serial number (6920CBN4E105, for example). The DNS name field is empty, so we have no means of pinging them to see if they are “alive” on the network.
They are not listed when I query for computers inactive 1 week (using “dsquery computer -inactive 1”).
I’d appreciate any tips on how to identify these “mystery” devices.
