unknown files & folders on FTP server?

By ldregely ·
I have a Windows 2000 workstation with a FTP server setup on it. I noticed apparently someone has folders and files on the ftp site that I as administrator cannot delete. I've tried safe mode in DOS to delete but was unable. Does anyone have an idea on how to clean the unwanted stuff off my ftp sever and how to prevent this from happening again? Thanks

First, learn your lesson and secure your FTP server better. This is Tagging. This leaves behind files and folders that use reserved characters and are next to impossible to remove.

Look at this MS page
You cannot delete a file or a folder on an NTFS file system volume

I have seen some utils that can remove these dirs too, but let me ask, is this volume entirley devoted to FTP? If so, just backup, delete, and recreate. You will save time and effort.
