Unmountable_boot_volume

Have read similar problem. Solutions not working. Have tried booting to CD, and USB Flash. Laptop always boots to harddrive, Windows boot screen comes up, 10 seconds pass, then it boots to blue screen with error, Unmoutable_boot_volume. This screen automatically kicks back into a loop. I F8 into advanced setup. I have tried every mode, safe, safe w/prompt, last known, directory services restore mode, and debug. No change in loop. CDROM is spinning. Can’t get any DOS screen prompts. Tried “R” key when Windows boots. No help. Harddrive sounds active. Safe mode with prompt gives me System 32 visualizatin, then kicks into blue screen. This is a IBM R32 2658 CXU with a Hitachi PATA drive that has an IDE interface that won’t fit the external USB casing I bought. Is there a special IDE to USB connector that I need to ask for?
