Unplug or Eject Hardware Applet Gone

Help!

I uninstalled UMAX VistaScan software on my Windows 2000 computer and it removed my Unplug or Eject Hardware Applet from the System Tray. Now my two USB devices won’t work.

I have tried installing new USB devices, repairing Windows 2000 with the Rescue Disk, last known good configuration — nothing works. Sent email to UMAX tech support and haven’t heard anything. From past experience with their Telephone Support, not worth it. All I want at this point is to get Win2K back the way it was without having to totally reinstall.
