Unstable system due to a file

By shireen ·
My system becomes unstable when I attempt to open the "Download File" where I've saved my downloaded applications and files. It hangs when I attempt to open the file in Explorer (Win 95)

You may have too many files in your download directory, this slows down file access in DOS mode. Over 128 files in a directory slows it down. You could move some of the files to a different directory or delete unnecessary files that are no longer needed, all files that are beyond the (DOS) directory limit (12 will still slow access to these files.

Also Win 95 does not always delete .tmp files, adding the following lines in the autoexec.bat file has helped my Win 95 system.

del c:\windows\*.tmp
del c:\windows\temp\*.tmp

Good Luck!
