Update Rollup 1/Office no save to Floppy

On 5 Dell Machines(GX 260’s) I’ve updated from Windows 2000 SP 2 to SP 4. I then installed the “Windows 2000 Update Rollup 1 for Service Pack 4” and now Word and Excel hang intermittently when saving to A:

I can drag and drop to save to a floppy, and I can save just fine out of other programs. I’ve also tried uninstalling Office XP and installing Office 2003, but the same thing happens.

I’ve also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the floppy drive.

the only thing that I found that works is to uninstall “Windows 2000 Update Rollup 1 for Service Pack 4”

Any thoughts?
