Update to WinXP SP3 failed: unable to boot “autochk program not found”

Hi,

last night I let my computer update itself to Service Pack 3 of WinXP.

It failed.
Now I can’t boot. It reaches a blue screen with the message:
“autochk program not found skipping autocheck”
and tries again, and again, and again…

Any possible solutions?
