Updating Malware Bits & Bytes on an infected computer

By rathersailawa ·
I need to use the "Malware Bits & Bytes" program to scan my hard drive. Trouble is, at present I am being blocked from internet access. I can download the program from another computer and put it on a jump drive to install in the infected computer, but how can I get that program to download the latest database updates before scanning? Is there a way to install the updated program onto the infected computer using a jump drive and then make a scan? How can I do this? What else can I do to get the infected computer to scan?

Matter very much here. If what you're messing with is, "Malware Bits & Bytes", then you may already have it.

I think the proper name for what you want is, "MalwareBytes Antimalware", or, MBAM.

When you download the program, you should also be able to download the latest updates as files. Once you install the app, set its update utility to use the files you pulled down.

...then stay on-line long enough to download the updated files. Take the computer off-line to run the scan(s).

Depends on the malware.

In some cases, just being in Safe Mode won't stop the malware from operating.
