I have been tasked with updating one of my company’s field offices. They have an isolated (from the world) development network with MS-SBS 4.0 on a Dell server and several MS Win-NT4 workstations. No significant maintenance has been done on this system for several years. I would like to install the current critical, recommended and suggested patches and updates. My problem is that information on the older MS products has started to disappear from Microsoft’s web site and I only have this afternoon and evening to prepare.
I already know what I need to do to the workstations. My questions are about the server:
Can NT service packs be applied to SBS? Is the SBS 4.0 to 4.5 upgrade the only method?
Does SBS 4.0 support 18GB disks? (I plan to install a mirrored set).
Is there anything special about SBS that my knowledge of NT-4 Server wouldn’t cover, specifically relating to upgrades and patches?
