Upgrade caused multiple entries in device manager

By deICERAY ·
WINXPSP3, went from an Athlon64 to a Phenom X4 9600, and new Nvidia 9600 GSO; in Device Manager I have 3 motherboard resources,2 ACPI entries, 5 PCI std host cpu bridge, 5 PCI std PCItoPCI bridge,3 RAM controller, an unknown device, 2 std enhanced PCI to USB host, 2 Std openHCD USB host controller, 4 USB hubs, and so on... and the sytem takes FOREVER to boot - there are other issues, but one thing at a time!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try a sysprep

On your XP CD , there should be a Deploy.cab file which you can extract deployment tools including Sysprep. Use SetupMgr to create a sysprep.inf file and use it to sysprep your machine and strip out the devices, reboot and hopefully remove all the redundant drivers when it starts up.
