upgrade to Windows 2000(Win2K)

I am trying to upgrade to Win2K on two computers. One has Win98 and the other has WinNT.
My question is “How do I turn off the compatibitly mode when installing Win2K?” There are a couple of hardware/software profiles on the two computers that cannot be uninstalled or updated. Win2K always stops installation when I get to the compatiblity check for the hardware/software applications.
