Upgrading a system with a RAID 0

By brian4881 ·
I am currently upgrading a computer from Win98 to XP Professional. It has an Asus P4B533-E system board with a 2.4ghz P4, 512MB ram and an MB FasTrac 133 RAID controller (with a RAID 0 set up), and the computer hangs up after rebooting during the XP installation process, saying that it needs a floppy disk for a third party RAID driver. However, it still does not recognize the updated driver that I downloaded from Asus's website. What else can I do?

your Promise Fastrac RAID controller is seen by Windows as a SCSI controller, so in your BIOS boot order sequence you must specify boot SCSI NOT boot HDD-0,1,2,3. Ensure you have ALL drivers installed. If there are 2 listed for XP install BOTH.

Note: boot HDD-0,1,2,3 in the BIOS identifies Hard Drives connected to the IDE controllers NOT to the RAID controllers.
