Upgrading my Processor

By edu_lizia_usa ·
I'm trying to upgrade my processor. Right now I have a Pentium D 830 3GHz and I went to Microcenter and they recommend upgrade to a Pentium Dual Core E2180 2GHz. My mobo is a Biostar i945G-M7 Intel socket 775. Initially I removed the fan and my old processor and install the new one and nothing happened. So I upgrade my Bios and place the new processor in place and again nothing happened. Is anyone able to give me a little guidance because I need more power in this cpu and I tought that a processor upgrade would be a good idea...

Sometimes all you need to do is boost the RAM and not the processor to increase speed. How much RAM do you have now?

But anyway, the MB supports Core2 Duo's; maybe clear the CMOS settings via the jumper and see what happens.
