What about the processor documentation?

by OldER Mycroft In reply to upgrading rom bios

Doesn't it refer to the BIOS revision?

What BIOS do you have?
What processor - old and new?
What motherboard?

upgrading rom bios

by nwagbostella In reply to What about the processor ...

I do not know the bios as the processor was not on the board. I just want to fix a processor there since the board is still working. The previous processor was p3 667mhz and the one i want to put there is p3 800mhz.
The board is an intel 82810aa
There is no documentation as the system is old

Search HP

by TheChas In reply to upgrading rom bios

Search the support section at www.hp.com for an updated BIOS for your system.

Make sure that the BIOS update adds support for additional processors, or corrects some other problem you are having with your system.

Print out the instructions for flashing your BIOS.

Follow the instructions exactly!

If HP does not offer an updated BIOS, I would consider either going back to your old CPU, or to the fastest CPU that your board supports.

There are third party sites where you can purchase a custom BIOS. But, a lot of people have had problems with Windows activation problems after installing a 3rd party BIOS update. Also, a 3rd party BIOS can cost over $50 (US).
