Make sure your device is supported with Win2k.

If you have a CD of Windows 2000 Professional Insert it..and if Autorun option is enable.. If will promt that tell you if you want to intall it, follow the steps and it will install the Win2000. With that step it saves your time from installing other application.

If you have a large drive and you want dual-booting....You should start from partitioning your drive.

Check the HCL for updated drivers for W2K drivers

If you donot already have one, create a Windows 98 SE startup disk

Insert the W2K Pro cd in drive and it should auto detect and proceed to run upgrade setup, choose the option to Upgrade, follow on screen instructions

The actual install process is a piece of cake. Make sure you have the 2000 drivers ready and have carefully checked your compatibility. Also, note any configuration settings (for network, etc). You should carefully consider some issues, though...NTFS vs FAT32 for example. Make sure to look into this before you start.

When you insert the 2000 Pro disc, if auto run isn't disabled, it will prompt you that the OS you are running is older, would you like to upgrade. From that point, follow the prompts.

Here's a good link on "getting your system ready" from CNET:

Delete any spaces in the URL. Good luck with the upgrade!

Hope this helps...
