Urgent:Recovering Windows settings

i have reinstalled WINDOWS XP in C b/c of the change in processor and AGP card. I had the previous installations (all ORACLE, .net and other stuff) on F: where my previous XP installed before this reinstallation...

I wanna to find out is there any chance to recover those installations....

Suggestion : Copying Program Files and documents and settings folder and windows folder from F: to C: .... will it solve my problem...

Hi Mehdi

You will not recover you applications by copying your program files and documents and settings folder. the applications when installed will have written to the registry and set variables within windows for them to run. on the other hand changing a processor should not have required a re install as a call to the regional services centre (whatever country your in )would have allowed you to continue to run your current installation of windows XP. sorry the news is not more positive

As Gerry says although it might be worth reloading all the programs from cd's etc then copying your data back into the same folders (over the top) this may help some programs.

If you can still boot from ur previous windowsxp installation on F: then u can try files and settings transfer wizard on system tools, i have red howtos on this but yet to try it myself, goodluck
