I am a Independent Canadian IT Consultant for a US Recruiter representing a wireless product in Canada only recommending and answering questions of customers. I am a sole-proprietor. My issue is here I cannot get the US Company to pay the GST. I was told I am responsilble for the 7% GST since they won’t pay the tax and since they are american and dont want to do the paper work… Which means I am docked another 7&% on top of my personnel taxes… I have already spoken to the US company and they will accept the tax becasue I know if they do they can reclaim it at the border but the paper work is a hassel they say.. This is ridiculous if I charge GST and can’t collect how can I pay it? I have to take it out of my profits… Any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it… Thank-you
