US IT Salary Survey - where am I going wrong?

By RobRoyNJ ·
The US Dept. of Labor says that IT salariers grew by 18% AFTER adjusting for inflation between 1998 - 2004. I work with a large team of IT and a major US business and I can tell you that this did not happen at my company. So I ask you, if you saw pay increase at your company where do you work?

Government statistics

by DC Guy In reply to US IT Salary Survey - whe ...

Statistics can be manipulated to make any point you want, but the government goes one step further and simply lies about it.

They arbitrarily decided that people who gave up looking for work because they exhausted every avenue they could think of and just moved back in with their parents no longer qualify as "unemployed." That and a host of other rule changes have really lowered the nation's unemployment rate.

I'm sure they've done something similar in this case. Probably changed the classifications so that people in the lowest-paying jobs are simply no longer considered to be "in IT."
